Party places for the Vancouver civic election

November 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

For those wondering where the parties are partying tonight, Vision Vancouver has gone upscale and is camping out at Hotel Vancouver for the night, which is ironically where the NPA celebrated in 2005.

The Non-Partisan Association picked the Ramada Renaissance, 1133 West Hastings Street — a somewhat unfortunate choice. I guess no one there remember that that is where city hall unions and management tried to settle the strike early on last July, but talks broke down quickly (especially after city manager Judy Rogers didn’t show up) and it was another two months before everyone got back to work.

COPE is going to party at its campaign office, in the 500-block of East Broadway where the video store used to be in the mini-mall there.

FYI – I was just working the phones for the past 3 hrs at the COPE HQ on east broadway and things are looking good! Volunteers have been on the phones straight since the morning and all are looking forward to the party. They just set up the big screen for results and are planning to have some live bands playing at this converted video rental shop!
