While everyone is fulminating over Vancouver’s budget, I thought this would be an excellent time to remember to link to my most recent column in Vancouver magazine, a history of how this city managed, after many tries, to land the Olympics.

    We live in Vancouver and this keeps us busy.

    Until . . .

    . . . hey presto Bobbie “everything will be allright (for him) will grasp the oppo . . .

    . . . the Chinese government has just given its hoi polloi permission to come here . . .

    And come here they will . . . in droves . . . clutching those rapidly depreciating green backs . . .

    To buy up OV @ bargain prices . . .

    . . . and we’ll all be camping out in Michael Gelding designed luxury shipping containers . . .

    Hell why not . . . we did it to them last century . . .
