Chief electrician update

March 24th, 2010 · 2 Comments

If you didn’t catch it in other media, the city is going to release all documents related to the firing, laying off, termination, shared-services review downsizing of chief electrical officer Ark Tsisserev, which has been stirring up dustclouds of speculation in recent weeks.

Presumably not his personal file from the human-resources department, but things that were presented during the in-camera meeting where his position was eliminated.

A propos of all this, I heard last night that Mr. Tsisserev is now employed at the engineering-firm giant here, Stantec.

I am not sure why you are so beyond reporting on this scandal. It was reported int he Vancouver Courier last week that all of Alex Tsakumis’ statements about anomalies at olympic venues were true.
What will Penny Ballem release? Why doesn’t she answer all of outstanding questions about if we were safe during the Olympics. You do not want to do any digging Frances when your freinds are involved.

Regardless of what Ms. Ballum releases, the reality is that we have an inexperienced department head now in charge of said electical department.

From my understanding the number 2 in place was given the 60 days notice Mr. Tsisserev was NOT given and will be done any time now as well.

What we have is a city that has less qualified people in the relevant positions than we had before Ms. Ballum decided to make her cuts.

Last I checked that makes our city less safe.

In addition to our city not being as safe as it was on January 20, we have paid a gentleman a severence package that would not have been necessary should the situation remained as is until retirement in about 12 months from now.

Personally I’d like to see the cost/benefit analysis she completed to determine that letting go this man and eliminating his position would have saved the city any money at all.

Lastly, if this process was carried out as they claim, in camera and following all protocol, then why did the taxpayers get different stories from Penny Ballum (several), Geoff Meggs (that he retired), and Gregor Robertson (too many too count)?

Please note I would have used a bullhorn to voice my post, but it was lent to Panasonic so they could use it should any fire break out in their tent during the games. Can Ms. Ballum or Gregor please tell me when I could get that back?
