I’m allowed to break the news this morning that Kevin Quinlan, the young man who was Vision’s mainstay staffer during the lean years and the researcher/reality-check operative during the campaign, is going to be the fourth staffer in the mayor’s office.
Quinlan, who has a poli sci degree from UBC and was doing the urban studies master’s program at SFU, is only 25, which puts him in competition with Gordon Campbell for youngest mayoral assistant on record.
For those of you youngsters, i.e. Kevin, who don’t remember that ancient history, Gordon’s political career started when he became Art Phillips’ assistant when TEAM swept to power in 1972 to remake the city.
We will miss his sharp observations on Vancouver Kid and hoping that he can inject a little of his very Daily Show humour into what have, for the past decade, been pretty boring news releases from the mayor’s office.
Kevin promises no breathless announcements about Gregor planning to attend council or come to city hall on a regular basis.
